Random notes:
We established that the goddess in the mirror is Layta goddess of seduction, and the one who helped pilgrim become immortal. Her punishment stems from that incident.
Catalon politics:
Catalon — Nameless One is busy doing immortal quest. Came back with the “travelers chalice” increases intelligence. Travel spells. Immortal level survival. What immortal? Legendary artifact acquired, so we think an immortal of time.
Usend — 28th level — promoted to first circle and moving to Catalon from southern continent.
Kesteron — 12th-15th level — protege, promote to second circle
We talk with Novis (Pflarr’s avatar). He nudges us to go to Citadel. He could teach us to spend our own experience points to recreate them. Three big tasks (1) deliver the book, (2) Go to nine kingdoms and capture Atzanteotl’s son, (3) an additional task to be revealed. He also discusses the gods plan to go in and take care of the egg — stand guard at the dam.
Prior to the journey to Azure Sky, we visit Citadel to mindlink with our avatars, and kill the blue dragon that nearly killed our avatars.
Dragon Loot:
170 gold (including 200 of the coveted Electrum!)
10 jewelry 47000 gp
Normal Sword +1
Spell Scroll — Detect Magic
Potion of growth
Potion of healing
Potion of speed
Potion of speech
Magic items are hidden in a location where the NGs can find them (location shared during mindlink)
Efrim and Carrock also go to Durnin to do a little shopping and successfully pick up the first of 3 girdles of giant strength we buy on this weekend.
Lackshmi and Al visit the Tower. Lackshmi uses the x-ray vision, detect magic, and True Sight powers of Teng’s Spectacles to peer through the outer wall of the tower, near the Giants Menagerie door. She is able to see 140′ feet in on the first, second, and third floors, and relays what she sees* to Namisha (via mindlink).
*Justin to fill in this detail after mancation.
Back to the Azure Sky
On the way we stop in Kreberiseth and manage to pick up two more girdle of giant strengths. We catch Iustal flirting with an attractive woman, who is revealed to be Chira Hala, one of Julia Hala’s sisters. She is also a child of Halav. Apparently there are several. Apparently Iustal pals around with a crowd of inter-planar elite, going to parties at the homes of immortals and such. Efrim tries to get invited, but he claims that he’s in no position to invite. We will keep working on him.
All of the Heroes have been called, but the party is excited to reconnect with old friends Ireiga, Ashgar and Utnapishtim. Efrim makes a joke about dying on this mission and getting some help from the 36 level paladin, to which Utnapishtim replies, “Friend, I value your life more than mine.”
When we arrive on azure sky the gods are all there:
Azure council: Cluneus (triton), Ka, Ixion, Dumak (natural selection; Vimja), Kopasari (Leadership), Mother Time, Hel
Observers: Pflarr, Ilsundel
Titans: Animus & Rotaspring (both for sphere of time)
Champions of interest to us: Iriega, Warturnal (Sphinx), Lord Kirkus (dwarf), Ashgar and Utnapishtim
With us in our group: Krest (36th level fighter, coarse dude,half-cocked), Kopasari appears as a 7’ blond headed guy with armor)
We chat with Pflarr beforehand and he urges we play it “by the book.”
We are initially deployed behind the dam. After some time we see a giant volcano cloud. Several minutes later, we hear an explosion and the earth rubles; the hatchlings have hatched and head our way. The hatchlings are 200’ high and are made of thick rocky skin with scales. They look like lizards, but are bipedal and upright. As they moves, lava pours out of its joint, have incipient wings on their shoulders, and a mouth in its chest area with a long searching tongue. Their heads are oversized; head is flopped over like a baby. They regenerate by licking their wounds with their tongue.
We move inside the dam — we are all given immortal protection from Fire by “Men and women, I am with you” Kopasari then takes off and informs us Ka will be joining us. We create monsters and as the hatchlings approach, we try out attacking it with created dragons. As the first hatchling approaches, Ka comes running up and calls the warriors to follow him and urges the rest of us to drop back quickly; we dither and he freaks out (for good reason we find out shortly). As soon as Ka, Kresth, Warturnal and Utnapishtim attack, the creature explodes in a fiery blast of lava and meteors that catches everything within 1/2 mile. Everyone has to save vs. dragon breath at -16 or be killed , those that roll a 1-2 are disintegrated. Al, Utnapishtim, and Warturnal are killed. Ashgar Iriega, Kirkus are disintegrated by the explosion. Ka raises Al and the other heroes and heals others in Timestop, then summons Rocs for us to flee on back to the Archon base. The gods decide to let the hatchlings escape and after leaving the dam they immediately teleport to the Vssgon’s mountain and attack the Vssgon.
The Vssgon battle (viewed via scrying):
At first the battle is 5 hatchlings vs. the Vssgon; Pflarr, Ilsundel, Ixion and several other gods watch from a safe distance. The Vssgon appears to have the advantage at first, very strong anti-magic, and 9-10 vssgon workers. Inititally the hatchlings are having difficult times dealing with the Vssgon. When two more join, one of the originals blows itself up destroying all the Vssgon workers. Several rounds later, after the battle seems to be going Vssgon’s way. Then three explode in the same round and 2/3 of affect the Vssgon (failed save?) killing it.
All the gods join (including Kopasari, Ka, Dumak) to kill the remaining hatchlings. One dies in the second round. The other last while they are whittled down with power attacks Dumak, Kopasari & Ka engage in Melee.
Dumak’s avatar, Vimja, is completely destroyed in an explosion. Mother time & Kluneus also appear to have been killed in earlier battles.
The gods clean up, and Ka brushes the rocks off the mirror holding Layta and carries it off; we find out from Pflarr that she will be re-sentenced now that she can’t be punished with her original sentence.
The archons hold elaborate funeral rites for the heroes that could not be recovered. Ireiga, Ashgar, and Kirkus. Utnapishtim is inconsolable over the loss of his friend, Ashgar.
After the drama is over, and the operation is in clean up phase, Al tries to buddy up with Krest. Krest is from the 9 Kingdoms, and knows the kind of people that Iustal and Chira Hala were talking about. Krest has made a name for himself as being kind of an uncouth fuck up. He has hired out his services to kings and queens in the past, only to have completely botched the job. he’s been cursed, hunted, and banished from multiple planes. He also knows about the kingdom with the necromancers on the 9 Kingdoms, and can fill us in on some of the people and politics. Al puts him in his roledex.
